D&D 2024 Rules Reference — Druid (Circle of Wildfire)

Overview

This skill provides rules context for building and maintaining the D&D 2024 Druid Character Sheet SPA. The Druid class follows the 2024 Player's Handbook rules, with the Circle of Wildfire subclass imported from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (2020) for compatibility.


Druid Spellcasting (2024 PHB)

Basics

  • Spellcasting Ability: Wisdom
  • Spell Save DC: 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Wisdom modifier
  • Spell Attack Modifier: Proficiency Bonus + Wisdom modifier
  • Ritual Casting: Druids can cast any prepared spell with the Ritual tag as a ritual
  • Spellcasting Focus: Druidic Focus (wooden staff, yew wand, mistletoe sprig, etc.)

Cantrips

  • Druids know a set number of cantrips (starts at 2 at level 1, grows per class table)
  • Cantrips are NOT prepared — once chosen, they are always available
  • In 2024, cantrips scale at levels 5, 11, and 17

Prepared Spells

  • Druids prepare spells from the full Druid spell list each long rest
  • Number of prepared spells = Wisdom modifier + Druid level (minimum 1)
  • Circle Spells (from subclass) are always prepared and don't count against the limit

Circle of Wildfire (Tasha's Cauldron)

Circle Spells (Always Prepared)

These are automatically prepared at the specified Druid level and don't count against the preparation limit.

Druid Level Spells
2nd Burning Hands, Cure Wounds
3rd Flaming Sphere, Scorching Ray
5th Plant Growth, Revivify
7th Aura of Life, Fire Shield
9th Flame Strike, Mass Cure Wounds

Note: Burning Hands, Scorching Ray, Revivify, Aura of Life, Fire Shield, Flame Strike, and Mass Cure Wounds are NOT on the standard Druid spell list. They are granted specifically by the Circle of Wildfire subclass.

Subclass Features

  • Summon Wildfire Spirit (2nd level): Expend Wild Shape use to summon spirit. Appears within 30ft, deals 2d6 fire to nearby creatures (Dex save). Lasts 1 hour.
  • Enhanced Bond (6th level): +1d8 to fire damage or healing rolls while spirit is summoned. Spells can originate from spirit.
  • Cauterizing Flames (10th level): When creatures die within 30ft, spectral flame appears. Reaction to heal or damage 2d10 + Wis mod. PB uses per long rest.
  • Blazing Revival (14th level): If spirit is within 120ft when you drop to 0 HP, spirit drops to 0 instead, you regain half HP. Once per long rest.

Character Sheet Layout (2024 PDF)

The official 2024 character sheet has these major sections:

  1. Header: Character Name, Class & Level, Background, Species, XP
  2. Left Column: Ability Scores, Saving Throws, Skills
  3. Center Column: AC, Initiative, Speed, HP, Hit Dice, Death Saves, Attacks
  4. Right Column: Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds, Flaws, Features, Proficiencies
  5. Bottom: Spellcasting section (Cantrips & Prepared Spells table)

Proficiency Indicators

  • Diamonds (◇/◆): Used for Saving Throw proficiency
  • Circles (○/●): Used for Skill proficiency and spell preparation
