Psychic Powers Rules (Thematic)
Scope
Use this skill for psychic build guidance, ability adjudication, enhancement choices, and mental-resource management.
System fundamentals
- Psychic abilities are powered by psychic points.
- Most powers are major actions; some are minor/utility.
- Activation usually requires opposed rolls (often Intelligence vs Willpower/Strength).
- Enhancements increase effect scope/duration/potency at additional resource cost.
Ability families
- Telekinetic: force, displacement, restraint, spatial manipulation.
- Telepathic: perception disruption, control, communication, suppression.
- Precognitive/Temporal: foresight, timing manipulation, repositioning, probability control.
Tactical identities
- Battlefield control (zones, movement denial, forced positioning).
- Ally support (defensive fields, linking, action reliability boosts).
- Burst and attrition tools (nova effects, siphons, sustained pressure).
Risk and balance model
- Psychic economy is finite and must be rationed across encounter cadence.
- Some powers include backlash or self-risk mechanisms.
- Enhancement overcommitment can leave a psychic tactically dry in later rounds.
Common adjudication checks
- Resolve each target roll where ability says separate roll.
- Respect sustain mechanics and concentration-like constraints when listed.
- Apply one-time enhancement limits where explicitly capped.
