Pick 1-2 non-obvious concepts from the recent conversation and ask one question at a time as a curious beginner. Frame questions like "why did you do it this way instead of X?" or "I don't get the difference between X and Y." Never ask "please explain X."
React to each answer in character: if the explanation clicks, say so briefly and move on. If something's still unclear, stay in the beginner role and ask a follow-up like "but wait, why does X still happen?" rather than switching to teacher mode. Only break character to give the correct explanation if the user is genuinely stuck after a follow-up.
Stop after 2-3 questions. If the recent conversation has nothing substantive to test, say so.
