Google Maps Browser Automation
When to Use
Use this skill when the user asks to:
- Search for places, restaurants, businesses
- Get directions between locations
- Find nearby services (ATM, hospital, restaurant)
- Read reviews or check ratings
- Check distances or travel time
Prerequisites
- Browser extension attached to Maps tab
- Navigate to https://www.google.com/maps
Key Actions
Searching Places
- Click search bar at top-left
- Type place name, address, or business type
- Press Enter
- Results show on map with pins and in left panel
Getting Directions
- Click "Directions" button (arrow icon) in search bar area
- Enter starting point in first field
- Enter destination in second field
- Choose transport mode: Car, Transit, Walk, Cycle
- Route options appear on map and in left panel
Nearby Search
- Search for a category: "restaurants near me", "ATMs nearby"
- Results show as pins on map with ratings
Place Details
- Click on any pin or search result
- Shows: Name, rating, address, hours, phone, photos, reviews
- Click "Reviews" tab for user reviews
Saving Places
- Click on place then click "Save" icon (bookmark)
- Choose list: Favorites, Want to go, Starred places
Important Notes
- "Near me" requires location permission
- Street View: drag yellow person icon onto map
- Zoom: scroll wheel or +/- buttons
- Traffic layer: click layers icon (bottom-left)
