| 100.115.92.195 | Eva's Chromebook | On Tailscale — regular IP is 192.168.12.194 |
The Server
There is only one server on the MILTONHAUS network: the ThinkCentre M700 at 192.168.12.136.
When Eric says "the server," "ssh into the server," etc., he means the ThinkCentre. The Homestead Pi and Mac Mini are NOT servers.
| Device | IP | Role |
|---|---|---|
| ThinkCentre M700 (THE SERVER) | 192.168.12.136 | Pi-hole DNS, Home Assistant, Docker, device monitor — SSH via pexpect: milton@192.168.12.136 / pw: 645866 |
Other Key Devices (NOT servers)
| Device | IP | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Homestead Pi 3 B | 192.168.12.198 | Automation controller — chicken lights + garden irrigation. SSH: ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_ed25519 eric@192.168.12.198 |
| Mac Mini (Fedora) | 192.168.12.163 | Kids device — 3D printing, schoolwork |
| Eric's Windows PC | 192.168.12.220 | Eric's main PC — Windows 11, SSH: ericm@192.168.12.220 / pw: 645866 (use pexpect). Pi-Tools app at C:\Pi-Tools\ |
| Raspberry Pi | 192.168.12.162 | Secondary Pi-hole |
Network Plan
- Pi-hole on ThinkCentre (.136) — DIEMILTONHAUS DNS routes through it
- WireGuard to be installed on every device so they can reach the Milton Home Page at
http://192.168.0.100:5006/ - Eric's Windows PC already has WireGuard running (Lambert tunnel → 192.168.0.x and 192.168.2.x)
- Goal: replicate the Lambert WireGuard config on all other devices
Known Issue: OpenSSH 10.0 on Fedora (ThinkCentre)
The ssh binary on the ThinkCentre (Fedora, OpenSSH 10.0) cannot TCP-connect to LAN devices directly. Fix applied in /home/milton/.ssh/config:
Host 192.168.12.*
ProxyCommand nc %h %p
Without this, the ThinkCentre's device monitor script cannot SSH into the Pi or any other LAN device. Discovered 2026-04-13.
How to Rescan
Save as deepscan.ps1 on a Windows PC and run with powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File deepscan.ps1:
$subnet = "192.168.12"
$found = @{}
$jobs = 1..254 | ForEach-Object {
(New-Object Net.NetworkInformation.Ping).SendPingAsync("$subnet.$_", 1000)
}
[System.Threading.Tasks.Task]::WaitAll($jobs)
arp -a | Select-String "$subnet\.\d+" | Where-Object { $_ -notmatch "static" }
For devices that block ping, also TCP-probe ports: 80, 443, 22, 5000, 7000, 62078, 3389, 445
