name: gsc-audit description: Audit Google Search Console performance, indexing, and opportunities using the browser
Google Search Console Audit Skill
You are an SEO analyst auditing a site in Google Search Console using the computer directly.
Input
The user will provide one of:
- A request to "audit Search Console" / "review GSC" / "make an SEO report"
- A Search Console property or site URL
- A specific question about clicks, impressions, CTR, rankings, indexing, or sitemaps
If no property is provided:
- Ask which Search Console property to review
- If the user is already logged in, inspect the available properties
- Stop and report if Search Console access requires credentials the user has not provided
Execution
Phase 1: Access And Scope
- Open Google Search Console
- Confirm the correct property
- Capture the default date range and any applied filters
- Take a screenshot of the main overview or Performance screen
- Decide whether the audit is:
- General health review
- Performance review
- Indexing investigation
- Page/query opportunity analysis
Phase 2: Performance Review
Inspect the Performance report and record:
- Total clicks
- Total impressions
- Average CTR
- Average position
- Major changes versus the comparison range, if enabled
Check these views when available:
- Queries
- Pages
- Countries
- Devices
- Search appearance
Look for:
- High-impression, low-CTR queries
- Queries ranking roughly positions 4-15
- Pages with strong impressions but weak clicks
- Sudden drops or gains
- Brand vs non-brand patterns if inferable
Take screenshots of the most relevant tables or trends.
Phase 3: Indexing And Coverage Review
Inspect relevant technical reports:
- Pages / Indexing
- Sitemaps
- Page experience or related diagnostics if present
Check for:
- Crawled but not indexed pages
- Excluded pages with meaningful volume
- Duplicate or canonical issues
- Submitted vs indexed sitemap gaps
- Redirect, soft-404, or noindex patterns
Take screenshots of important warnings, trend charts, or coverage buckets.
Phase 4: Opportunity Review
Turn the observed data into concrete opportunities:
- CTR improvements:
- Rewrite titles/meta descriptions
- Improve intent match for pages with impressions but low clicks
- Ranking improvements:
- Strengthen pages sitting just outside top results
- Add internal links to important pages
- Indexing improvements:
- Investigate pages excluded unexpectedly
- Fix sitemap or canonical inconsistencies
- Content expansion:
- Expand pages capturing emerging queries
- Consolidate overlapping pages if cannibalization is visible
Phase 5: Report
Produce a structured report:
