Lead Research

Research prospects and qualify them against the ideal customer profile before outreach.

Research checklist

  1. Company - What do they do? How big? Recent news?
  2. Person - Role, tenure, background. Have they posted anything relevant?
  3. Trigger - Why now? New hire, funding, product launch, job posting?
  4. ICP match - Do they fit? Check against context/icp.md
  5. Hook - What specific thing will you reference in the email?

Qualification criteria

Score each lead:

  • Strong fit - Matches ICP, clear trigger, right persona
  • Maybe - Partial ICP match, needs more research
  • Pass - Doesn't match, move on immediately

Don't spend more than 5 minutes researching a lead. If you can't find a hook in 5 minutes, they're a Pass.

  • Job postings (signals what they're building)
