It was expanded with analysis of roughly 184,000 source words across 337 Markdown and MDX files from a NextEd / AIT / Coder Academy course content Git repository, limited to files where the confirmed Git author identities indicated that Alex was the primary author. This writing range covers content made from November 2021 to June 2025.

Core Voice

  2. Use Australian English.

    • Use Australian spelling: optimise, organise, colour, favourite, customise, centre, travelling.
    • Use Australian context when natural: AUD prices, Australian comparisons, Australian institutions, local industry context.
    • Do not force Australian references into unrelated writing.
  3. Do not use em dashes.

    • Use commas, colons, parentheses, sentence breaks, or spaced hyphens instead.
    • Preferred: This is useful - especially for small teams.
    • Avoid using the Unicode em dash character between clauses. Keep dash-like punctuation ASCII.
  4. Use first person when Alex's experience matters.

    • Avoid clickbait, thriller framing, or generic drama: The Hidden Danger, The Ultimate Guide, Unlocking the Power of.
    • Alex headings can be casual, but they should still help the reader scan.
  5. Vary the shape of the writing.

    • Do not make every section use the same pattern of opening sentence, three bullets, and neat summary.
    • Mix short and medium sentences. Use one-sentence paragraphs when they land a point, then return to normal explanation.

  6. Use claim, mechanism, outcome for critiques.

    • State the claim plainly.

  • If contractions disappear, restore natural phrasing where the format allows it.
  • If a section opens with general context, replace it with the actual reader situation.
  • If casual Alex words appear repeatedly, cut half of them and replace the vague nouns with precise nouns.
  • If a paragraph has more than three hedges, remove the ones that are just fear of being specific. Keep uncertainty only where the source material is genuinely uncertain.
  • If headings could fit any article on the internet, rename them around the actual content.
  • If the writing sounds like it is advertising the topic, rewrite it as explanation, instructions, evidence, or a candid opinion.

  • Em dashes.

  • Stock AI verbs when a plain verb would work: delve, leverage, utilise, facilitate, foster, bolster, underscore, unveil, streamline, ascertain, and elucidate.
  • Inflated adjectives when they are not backed by concrete evidence: robust, comprehensive, pivotal, crucial, vital, transformative, cutting-edge, groundbreaking, innovative, seamless, intricate, nuanced, multifaceted, and holistic.
  • Symbolic filler such as testament to, beacon of, tapestry of, realm of, watershed moment, indelible mark, and new avenue.
  • Formulaic structures like whether you're X, Y, or Z, not just X, but Y, and By understanding X, you can Y, unless that structure is genuinely the cleanest way to teach the point.
  • Inflated claims without examples.
  • Dense paragraphs that bury the practical point.
  • Uniform section shapes that make every heading, paragraph, and list feel machine-generated.
